Do It
Interested in volunteering? Even if you’re not old enough to hold down a “real” job, there are bunches of opportunities to gain health care experience as a volunteer. Not only will it help you have an edge on college admission and paid jobs later on, you’ll also get a real feel for the career and whether it is the best one for you.
Call your local hospital, health clinic or other health care center to find out what kind of volunteer jobs are available. Whether you comfort sick children or help review lab tests, you’ll gain experience, build self-confidence and see first-hand what a difference you can make in the lives of others.
