The VCU Dance major gains experience ...
... as a performer through intensive, daily technique curriculum, repertory classes and numerous formal and informal opportunities to perform.
... as a creator through an extensive seven-semester creative track curriculum with additional courses in music and video choreography.
... as a communicator with verbal, non-verbal, math and written communication skills emphasized across the curriculum and in the departmental communication.
... as an informed artist with an awareness of dance theory and history through three dance history courses and music appreciation and art history classes that compliment an ongoing inquiry into theories of dance technique and choreography.
... as a pre-professional with an awareness of the challenges and high standards needed to maintain a professional level of work by exposure to the community and guest artists.
