7. Register for Independent Study (undergraduate) or Directed Research (graduate)?
Independent Study (undergraduate, ARTH 497) or Directed Research (graduate, ARTH 797) credits require approval of a supervising faculty member. Consult with the appropriate faculty member regarding the project, then submit a completed, signed Application for Field Work or Individual Research form to the Department of Art History office. The form must include two copies of the justification for the project as specified on the form. When the completed form is submitted, an Override Permission Form will be issued to register for course credits. Completed applications must be submitted no later than the end of the first week of classes for the appropriate semester.
