The Department of Art History offers the Bachelor of Arts (BA), Master of Arts (MA) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees. Over one hundred undergraduate, fifty graduate and fifteen doctoral students participate in in the program, which acquaints them with the humanistic discipline of art historical inquiry. Ten full-time and approximately fifteen part-time and affiliated faculty offer diverse specialties, providing the department with a basis for a balanced multicultural curriculum. The majority of the faculty have national and international recognition, participating in numerous professional societies, organizations, and conferences. Programs are designed to train critical and productive scholars who are well grounded in the literature and methodology of art historical inquiry. VCU's Department of Art History attracts students from all over the United States and abroad.
