VCU Symphonic Wind Ensemble to make Carnegie Hall Debut!
The Virginia Commonwealth University Symphonic Wind Ensemble has accepted an invitation to perform at the New York Wind Band Festival, which will be held at Carnegie Hall on Tuesday, March 18, 2008. The ensemble will participate as one of two collegiate ensembles invited to perform at an evening showcase concert that concludes a three-day festival for selected high school band programs. The invitation to participate in this event as one of the featured performing groups further enhances the VCU Symphonic Wind Ensemble ’s fine reputation.
Under conductor Terry Austin, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble has been invited to perform at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the American Bandmasters Association Convention, the MENC Southern Division Conference, and the College Band Directors National Association Southern Division Conference, as well as numerous appearances at the Virginia Music Educators State Conference.
