Strings (VCU Orchestra web pages)

VCU Music provides a strong program for string instrumentalists of all majors. With one of the largest music education programs in the state of Virginia, string education majors are consistently and quickly placed in school programs throughout the country. Performance majors will find that the music department offers a unique mix of informality and personal attention, as well as challenging curricula and performance opportunities. Even string players who are not music majors can enjoy a number of rich musical experiences at VCU.

String students at VCU are able to take advantage of a wide range of performance opportunities. These range from the weekly string masterclass — an informal group forum on performance issues — to chamber music concerts and the VCU Opera Orchestra. The InterCollegiate Orchestra, an ensemble that brings together students from VCU and the University of Richmond, performs two concerts each semester.
