Curriculum

Private Lessons · Each participant will have at least one lesson on their respective instrument from our Faculty.

ChamberEnsembles · Each participant will be assigned to at least one Chamber group and will perform during the ensemble performance.

Three Orchestras · Each participant will be assigned to an orchestra and will prepare and perform exciting and challenging repertoire during the final performance at VCU.

Sectionals · Daily sectional will help strengthen sections of the orchestra and develop rehearsal preparations and large ensemble techniques.

Master Classes · Participants may express interest in playing during our daily master-classes while some will be selected. This will develop analytical thinking and the ability to express their thoughts intelligently about technique and performance practice relating to their particular instrument.

Improvisation · Participants will be introduced to classical, folk and jazz based improvisation. This will help explore various styles and possibilities of their instruments.

Great Presenters · These daily presentations will bring all the participant together for a special session which will include a combination of interactive lectures and performances.

Music History · Participants will be introduced to basics of music history and appreciation.

Faculty Performances · Faculty will present interactive lecture performances and demonstrate technical ability of their particular instrument.
