General Information

All applicants must have at least two years of study on their instrument prior to the Summer of 2008 and will be enrolled in the 6th grade or above in the fall of 2008. A recommendation from the private or school teacher is required.

Daily activities ill be held in the Maggie Walker Governor's School located conveniently in the heart of Richmond. Local students will be expected to bring a bag lunch. We are happy to provide lunches at an additional $35.00 for the week for commuting students. Interested applicants must make this request in their application. Snacks will be provided. Vegetarian meals will not be provided

The tuition for this camp is only $100.00 for Metro Richmond participants. Metro Richmond students include students from Chesterfield, Henrico, Hanover, Goochland counties and the city of Richmond. The total cost for students needing room and board is $300.00. These fees include all expenses including (tuition, room and board at a VCU campus secured and supervised facility, and evening educational and recreational activities). (Non-Metro Richmond commuting students' tuition is $265.) All students are required to pay a nonrefundable $10.00 registration fee with their application.

Scholarships are available and will be based on need and merit. Interested applicants should write a 100-word essay explaining the reasons for his or her interest in attending the camp and why he or she should be considered for a scholarship. In addition, the applicant must submit two letters of recommendation, one from the private instructor and one from the orchestra teacher. The registration deadline is April 30, 2008 & enrollment is limited. The full tuition is due upon notification of acceptance and should be paid no later than June 1, 2008.
