Mission Statement

VCU Summer String Camp offers Middle School and High School students a supportive and inspiring environment where professional performers and music educators seek to provide them an opportunity to develop their skill and talent as musicians.

We seek to engage young musicians from all socio and economic backgrounds by making this program accessible to all. We also lead students to reach their full potential in music.

We are committed to developing passionate and cultivated future professional musician and art supporters in our community by providing a challenging, rewarding and enriching experience for all.

We feel a strong sense of responsibility to fill any voids in string support services, educational programming, and performance opportunities for developing musicians studying violin, viola, cello, and bass in Richmond, surrounding communities, and throughout many areas of Virginia. Likewise, as an educational program, we are committed to supporting and furthering the development of music educators in our community by making them an integral part of our program. Finally, understanding our responsibility to the community at large, we would like to provide a variety of public performances featuring talented faculty and students participating in this project.
