Robbie Kinter (Music Director) explored the union of sound and movement while earning his BFA in sculpture from VCU. He has created and presented choreography for 20 years. He has worked with Dancsync in Chapel Hill, NC, and with Steve's House Dance Collective and The Starr Foster Dance Project in Richmond, VA. In 1991, with the performance art/percussion ensemble Ruckus Watusi, he received a grant from the Painted Bride Art Center for "Unheard-of Practices." He presented Unheard-of Practices 2 in 1995 and Unheard-of Practices 3 in 2002. Deconstructed Dialogues, co-created with choreographer Martha Curtis, was selected for the 20th annual Choreographers Showcase at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center and was adapted to video for PBS. Robbie scored the short film Murmur and the feature film The Snowflake Crusade, which has screened at The NY International Independent Film Festival, Seattle Underground Film Festival, and at The James River Film Festival. Robbie is a member of the Ululating Mummies and Rattlemouth, who recently created music for The Starr Foster Dance Project and for the video Deconstructed Dialogues. Robbie is the Music Director for VCU's Department of Dance and Choreography, where he teaches Contact Improvisation, Performance Art and Music for Dancers.
