Two Hundred Birds composed by Chris Becker

Terra is a bird/landscape wall installation which consists of 200 bird portraits 3" X3" which are hung in a 35’ grid-like system inspired by the first bird list created by Swedish biologist Carolus Linneas in 1758.

Some of the birds featured are now extinct and all are from the three Americas: South, Central and North America along with pencil drawings, collages and found objects incorporated in the grid. Terra is a landscape of the human conscience and our place within the natural world. This installation is considered a landscape. It is about light and dark. It is about the changing landscape, life and death. It is a landscape of the human conscience and memory and our place within the natural world.
