New Gifts to VCUarts Anderson Gallery Permanent Collection
VCUarts Anderson Gallery is indebted to the individuals who generously donated the following works to our permanent collection over the past year. Each work is a significant addition to our institution’s renowned permanent collection. These donor’s gifts of seminal works assist us in defining our mission of collecting works of art by important modern to contemporary artists and School of the Arts founding faculty and notable alumni who have exhibited nationally.
Located in the heart of Richmond, Virginia, the Anderson Gallery
is an important educational and cultural resource for the local,
national and international community.
The Anderson Gallery is the Museum of the Arts of Virginia
Commonwealth University and is a part of the School of
the Arts of VCU. With over 2,000 students and 135 full-time
faculty, the School of the Arts is one of the largest art
schools in the United States. Since 1971, the Anderson
Gallery has become one of the most important venues for
contemporary art in the Southeast. In addition to presenting
important exhibitions, publications and lecture series,
the Anderson Gallery is known for its extensive permanent collection.
Outreach
The Gallery offers internships to students
interested in collection management and registration methods
as well as offering the permanent collection to VCU faculty
to be used as a teaching tool. Tours of the permanent collection are available
to museum and other professionals in the art field. The Gallery
loans select works of art from the collection to various
departmental offices at VCU as well as to other museums,
