Performances, Master Classes, Private Lessons & More!

NEWS FLASH: Registration Deadline extended to May 23!

The VCU Summer String Camp is a day camp open to middle & high school students entering grades 6-12 in the fall of 2008. Professional musicians and music educators will conduct master classes, run sectionals and teach private lessons in violin, viola, cello & bass. Students will be immersed in music during the week-long day camp... playing in chamber ensembles, orchestra, learning about improvisation & jazz, practicing in new and exciting ways and listening to faculty performances. The final performance will take place on stage at VCU's Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall in the Singleton Center for the Performing Arts. A residential option is available to students who are not from the metro Richmond area. These students will stay in the dormitories at VCU and participate in after-hour activities with our counselors. Families will enjoy many attractions in and around the metro Richmond area: Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg, King's Dominion, & Pocahontas State Park are all within 1 hour of the city.
