Profile: Dr. McDonald teaches courses in insurance and risk control management and directs the Virginia Risk Control Institute. He served as the founding director of the Virginia Transportation Safety Training Center and as Director of the baccalaureate degree program in Safety and Risk-Control Administration. His writings on safety and health issues have been published in the Journal of Safety Research, the Journal of Evaluation and Program Planning, the Journal of Drug Issues, the Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment, and Professional Safety.

I am interested performance metrics for risk control managers - - with emphasis on accident cost accounting and cost/benefit analysis. I plan to share my work in this area via articles in several professional journals and perhaps a text on the subject.
