Profile: Professor of Management--Dr. Seers specializes in the effectiveness of working relationships, including leadership and motivation of employees as well as the development of effective teamwork. Dr. Seers has published numerous articles on management topics in journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, and Journal of Organizational Behavior, among others, and has won several best paper awards. He has also authored several book chapters and presented numerous papers at the Academy of Management. Dr. Seers also serves on the Editorial Board of Management Communication Quarterly, and as an occasional reviewer for Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Leadership Quarterly,and the Journal of Management among others. Dr. Seers is an elected member of the Society for Organizational Behavior, and a Fellow of the Southern Management Association. He is also a member of the Academy of Management, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, the American Psychological Association, and has served as President of the Southern Management Association.

Professional Experience: F. A. Rose Professor of Leadership, University of Alabama; Management Department Chair, Virginia Commonwealth University; Associate Editor, Leadership Quarterly; Editorial Board, Management Communication Quarterly.

Teaching: Professor in the Management Department, has taught organizational behavior, organizational theory, leadership, motivation, and the management of teams and groups.

Research: Work roles and relationships, including leadership, the development of effective teamwork, and employee motivation.
