Profile: Dr. Vijayakumar researches primarily in the areas of State and Local Government Finances and Accounting, Municipal Bonds, and Capital Markets issues relating to Financial Reporting and Insider Trading. He has published several articles in journals such as the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Journal of Accounting, Auditing, and Finance, and the Journal of Financial Services Research. Prior to joining VCU, Dr. Vijayakumar was at Georgia State University, Atlanta. He has also held various senior positions as an Assistant Commissioner in the Internal Revenue Service – Government of India. Dr. Vijayakumar is currently the President of the Government and NonProfit Section of the American Accounting Association, having previously served that section as Secretary / Treasurer and Director – Research.
