| Description | |
Sipping from the Third Stream is the title of Darryl Harper's Fall 2012 presentation featuring hybrid mixtures of Jazz and Western classical music. The program includes a premiere of "All Intents and Purposes" by Helen Sung, as well as Richmond premieres of "Jazz Clarinet Quartet" by Greg Bullen and "Dances for Outcasts" by Harper. Also featured are pieces by James Grant, Yusef Lateef, and Ayn Inserto. Harper is joined by Helen Sung (piano), Victor Dvoskin (bass), Harry "Butch" Reed (drums), Simon Lapointe (violin), and Peter Martin (percussion).
Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 on the day of the performance; free for VCU students with ID. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the box office or going online to www.showclix.com/events/1320
