Dr. Debra Saunders-White, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for Higher Education Programs, Office of Postsecondary Education will deliver remarks in an informal town hall discussion on Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN), STEM-H, and College Affordability. She serves as the assistant secretary's chief advisor on higher-education programs administering more than 60 programs, totaling nearly $3 billion annually.
The purpose of the event is to develop strategies to excite students to enroll in post secondary STEM-H degree programs and pursue STEM-H careers.
The Department of Education funded approximately $800,000 for eight doctoral students in the VCU School of Engineering's Ph.D. Program.
