| Description: Clinical-educator in the Department of Internal Medicine, Geriatrics Section of the Division of General Medicine at the VCU Medical Center. Duties include medical directorship of a nursing home or nursing homes, providing primary care to nursing home patients, leading an inpatient geriatric medicine consult team on a rotational basis, staffing a traditional housestaff teaching service one month per year, and sharing night call for the nursing home practice (one in eight currently). The faculty member will supervise geriatric fellows in longitudinal nursing home practice, teach residents on consults, in the nursing home, and in other settings as needed (house calls), and participate in other teaching activities. |
| Qualifications: Must be comfortable working with an interdiciplinary team including nurse practioners and pharmacist, and must integrate well with other members of an extended long term care team. Must be board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine, must have direct experience managing complex inpatient and outpatient geriatric patients with a solid understanding of the geriatrician role and function. Fellowship training and some academic preferred. |
