| Description: VCU is seeking a Director of Grants and Contracts. Reporting to the University Controller, the Director of Grants and Contracts oversees the post award financial administration, cost accounting and compliance for sponsored programs and effort reporting. The Director will develop and implement polices, strategies, accounting practices and procedures required by changes in federal and/or state regulations as well as providing leadership, strategic planning, and organization direction to the Grants and Contracts office. The Director will collaborate with appropriate VCU leadership to provide advice concerning the impact of legislative and regulatory initiatives; provide technical assistance to the departments; participate in research planning and ensure compliance with University, federal, and non federal research policies and regulations. | |
| Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess a Masters degree and eight or more years of related and progressively responsible experience; or, a Bachelors degree and ten or more years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in a large, complex institution of higher education or large complex governmental organization; A proven ability to work collegially in a complex environment with other senior university officials, faculty and leaders; An in-depth knowledge of federal regulations governing administration of grants; Demonstrated strong leadership, organizational and administrative skills related to research administration and post-award financial management in a complex academic or research hospital institution; A record of commitment to and demonstrated experience in delivering responsive service to research faculty and other members of the research community; Demonstrated ability to engage in problem solving, dispute resolution, decision making, and policy development activities; Excellent written and oral communication skills; and the ability to think in a progressive and collaborative manner with University stakeholders. | |
