| Description: Associate Dean for Professional Education and Outreach Director, University Health Services, Inc. - Professional Education Programs The Virginia Commonwealth University and University Health Services, Inc. Professional Education Programs (UHS-PEP), a component of the VCU Health System, seeks a physician leader for its continuing medical education and outreach programs. The successful candidate will: 1)Oversee professional education programs, including Continuing Medical Education (CME), provided by and for the VCU Health System, and the finances and personnel related to these programs; 2)Build a forward-looking program with multiple instructional delivery formats to address the diverse needs for provider education and re-certification; 3)Create an Advisory Committee to advise the Director regarding program develop and program priorities; 4)Establish relationships with strategic partners in the region, and develop and provide continuing professional education programs that address their needs; 5)Integrate strategic initiatives of the VCU Health System and MCV Physicians into the professional education curriculum; 6)Manage industry relationships, including industry-sponsored support, related to continuing professional education by complying with VCU Health System and VCU School of Medicine guidelines; 7)Develop and report performance metrics to guide and measure the quality and success of UHS-PEP; 8)Maintain American Academy of Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) accreditation of the continuing professional education programs The Associate Dean for Professional Education will report to the Dean of the School of Medicine and to the Board of Directors of UHS-PEP, which includes representation from the School of Medicine and the VCU Health System. The UHS-PEP has a current staff of 6 employees and an annual budget of $2.7million. | |
| Qualifications: The position has initially been created for 0.5-0.75 FTE. The successful candidate will be a practicing physician with demonstrated expertise in medical education and a broad appreciation of the continuing medical education needs of cognitive and procedural specialties. Business and management experience and skills related to directing and marketing a health care-related service or program are highly desirable and would be beneficial toward the successful delivery and fulfillment of this program. This position is being posted as an internal search and is open to all full-time and part-time physicians. | |
