| Description: The Director will serve as an expert on post-award research administration topics and issues for the School and will represent the School on campus- and University-wide committees related to grants administration. The individual will provide technical advice to research faculty and administrative staff, and when necessary, seek clarification of proposed policy changes and new procedures. Representing the Dean, this position will work with VCU officials to recommend, revise, develop, and implement appropriate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state/federal regulations and sponsor policies. In this newly created position, the individual will also develop a staff of specialized research analysts who will work with departmental administrative staff to answer questions, evaluate departmental staffing needs, and coordinate on-going training efforts related to the financial management of sponsored research grants. |
| Qualifications: The successful candidate will have significant experience in all aspects of research administration, including pre-award, post-award, and close-out, at an institution of higher education or comparable institution. Experience in administering federal grants (particularly from the National Institutes of Health) is a plus. Thorough knowledge of, and experience with, the fundamental federal regulations applicable to the conduct of research projects, including OMB circulars A-21, A-110, and A-133 as well as fiscal practices used by research institutions and sponsors is required. The individual will also hold a master's degree in accounting, business administration, management or related field or commensurate specialized training and experience in grants administration. |
