Description:  Full-time professional faculty position, non tenure-track, twelve month position in the Office of Doctoral Studies. The Coordinator is responsible for acting as the primary communication source for VCU faculty, staff and community/external partners; organizing and coordinating the doctoral student recruitment process; managing the application and graduation application process; facilitating the coordination of key assessments and/or program milestones with track coordinators, student advisors and students; improving doctoral student support services; assisting with new program development; and handling administrative responsibilities in the Office of Doctoral Studies. This position is the point of contact for faculty, students, applicants, and other professional faculty across campus to the program and the School of Education.
Qualifications:  Masters degree in Education or related field required. Experience working in a busy office with intermittent contact with others is required; preference given to those with experience in a university Graduate School, Student Services and/or Deans office setting. Must have the ability to answer questions, gather information and interact with a variety of "customers" (faculty, administrators, university staff as well as doctoral students); excellent problem-solving skills; professional writing skills; organizational skills; good computer skills, including familiarity with word, excel, access. Prefer experience with banner and/or database management. The successful applicant should be able to help with redefining the position and find ways to improve the supports and services provided to and communication with students in the program. Ability to learn a variety of policies and procedures across campus, including research and grant application procedures and teach them to others is highly preferred.
