| Description: Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, is developing a new initiative in tissue bioengineering with an emphasis on oral tissue regeneration, and invites applicants for a faculty position in the Department of Oral and Craniofacial Molecular Biology. The Department provides the core faculty for the Philips Institute; a University-recognized research institute housed in the School of Dentistry with existing research strengths in molecular pathogenesis of oral diseases and oral cancer. Responsibilities of the position will include establishment of a research program entailing collaborations with Institute members and scientists throughout the university, securing extramural funding for grants, mentoring PhD candidates, and participating in the departmental teaching program. Position rank will be open and commensurate with experience. | |
| Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a MD or PhD in a research field related to developmental biology or tissue bioengineering and a strong record of research accomplishments in the area of developmental and molecular biology of teeth and the craniofacial region. We are seeking an individual whose research program will emphasize studies of genes involved in periodontal development and maintenance and stem cell biology as it relates to oral tissue regeneration.VCU is an urban research extensive institution with a richly diverse community and commitment to multicultural opportunities. Experience working in a culturally diverse environment is desirable. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. | |
