Description:  Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking an Associate or a full Research Professor in the Department of Surgery's Division of Acute Care Surgical Services to serve primarily on the Injury and Violence Prevention Program.
Qualifications:  The candidate will have experience leading a dedicated multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, social and other health care workers on various hospital and community based injury and violence prevention programs. The candidate will additionally have experience researching the causes, prevention, and control of injury and violence. The candidate will oversee and expand the current multidisciplinary based research for each of IVPP's program with the goal to secure sustainable funding sources for research and development from the various governmental and non-governmental agencies including NIH, CDC, Fogarty, NSF, etc. The candidate will join ongoing multidisciplinary based research with department Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Epidemiology, and as well as with city health departments focusing on primary and secondary intervention of violence, treatment outcomes research. Relevant teaching experience is valued. Faculty members will provide support to the various clinical and social science departments through teaching, mentoring, or if licensed or eligible, delivering clinical services. Investment: 3-years initial salary support; 50% Salary support after that.
