|Description: The Children's Hospital of Richmond of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System has committed itself to transforming the NICU into a model of academic unit devoted to excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research. We are seeking a full-time Neonatologist. Appointment is commensurate with experience. Expected responsibilities include clinical care, neonatal follow-up, ECMO, hypothermia treatment, teaching responsibilities as well as opportunity to continue established clinical or bench research.|
The Neonatal Medicine Division oversees the only referral NICU in central Virginia that serves over 36,000 deliveries, and is also the areas only ECMO center. The Division has an active ground and air transport program, hypothermia treatment center, multidisciplinary neonatal follow-up program, family centered and developmental care program and neonatal fellowship training Program, and serves families in a single room designed 40 bed NICU at Children's Hospital of Richmond. The NICU is located on the Medical College of Virginia Campus of the Health Center.
Research activities include translational research in inflammation and immunity, pulmonary basic science and clinical management as well as the role of the microbiome in host health and disease. Developmental and follow-up outcome research is also available.
|Qualifications: Candidates will be provided protected research time and supported with state of the art research facilities within the Center for the Study of Biological Complexity and the VCU School of Medicine. Candidates should hold an MD/DO degree, be board-certified in Pediatrics and board certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine with active research programs. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.|
