Description:  Virginia Commonwealth University, Department of Psychiatry is recruiting Psychiatrists with community psychiatry and academic career interests to provide outpatient clinical care and supervise/teach residents/medical students.

The clinical experiences include: Primarily provide clinical services with VCUHS contract partner, Virginia Supportive Housing. Responsibilities include:

1)Psychiatric assessments to determine medication and treatment needs of referred patients. Provides medication management and follow-up to assigned patients.
2)Collaborates with outside medical, psychiatric, and other support providers to ensure coordination of care.
3)Coordinates with VSH team members and actively participates in the routine operation of the program.
4)Provide assessments and documentation for disability applications and other community resources to address patient needs
5)Provides support and direction to the APTS RN and other team members. Supports the implementation of the quality assurance activities as they relate to psychiatric and medication management services.

Effort at VSH is 60% (3 days a week). Remainder of hours will most likely be at VCUHS in an outpatient clinic. There is possibility of outpatient hours with another contract partner, Richmond Behavioral Health Authority or a VCUHS community site, Hayes E Willis through a foundation grant.
Qualifications:  REQUIRED:
BE/BC PSYCHIATRIST WITH INTEREST IN WORKING IN PUBLIC PSYCHIATRY AND WITH HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS
Demonstrated experience working with homeless individuals.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

PREFERRED:
Experience working in Virginia's public psychiatry setting.
Experience in substance abuse treatment.
Experience in teaching medical students and graduate residents.
