Description:  The Children's Hospital of Richmond and the School of Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University are committed to transforming the Pediatric Cardiology Division into a model academic unit devoted to excellence in clinical care, teaching, and clinical, and basic research. This is in conjunction with a recently renovated state-of-the-art rotational pediatric biplane cardiac catheterization laboratory and renovated OB-GYN floor. Our new state-of-the-art outpatient on-campus facility will open in March 2016. We are seeking an outstanding BC/BE pediatric cardiologist with advanced fetal and echocardiography training experience at the assistant or associate professor level to fill a non-tenure eligible position. Candidates with research funding and experience are highly desired.
Qualifications:  Director of Echocardiography and Fetal Cardiology. The Pediatric Echo lab was the first triple accredited (ICAEL: TTE, TEE and Fetal) Pediatric Echocardiography lab in Central Virginia. We have an active Fetal program with a referral base of over 60 mile radius. The echo lab is fully equipped, Digital, and has an active Tele-Echo service from outlying sites. Intra-Operative TEE is standard pre- and post- procedure and TEE/ICE is used in the pediatric cath lab for device implantation. The Peds Echo Lab employs four echo technicians. The lab includes in-patient and outpatient echos, fetal echos, stress testing facilities, multiple work stations and is active in Fellow education and research. MRI, CTA, and PET imaging is available onsite. The candidate is expected to expand our integrated services with VCUHS's regional perinatal center and Maternal Fetal Medicine Program. Research performance is expected and opportunities currently exist for collaboration. Candidates should possess outstanding clinical and teaching skills. Candidates are expected to participate in the educational endeavors of the Division that supports active fellowship programs in Pediatric and Adult Cardiology, Adult Interventional and Adult EP. Candidates should be eager to join in a major dynamic effort to create a superior academic pediatric cardiology division, in a collegial atmosphere and in a wonderful mid-Atlantic city, large enough to support all the best of a major urban setting, and small enough to be friendly and communal. Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
