| Description: | Have you ever taught for several weeks thinking that most everyone was on the same page—students smiling and nodding as you lecture and not offering any overt signs of confusion, only to find out from the results of the first test that there was a clear disconnect between what you were teaching and what they were learning? This workshop is designed to help faculty learn about classroom assessment techniques (CATs) and how to use them on a frequent basis to gain important insight into how they are teaching and how their students are learning.
Faculty who participate in this workshop will be able to identify the key features of effective classroom assessment techniques. Participants will also be able to identify a number of instructional situations in which a particular set of CATs are appropriate. Participants will also leave with a few “tried and true” techniques and will be able to use them immediately. |
