| Description: | This workshop provides faculty members with the opportunity to participate in a discussion about what constitutes learning-centered teaching practice, and to evaluate their own courses and teaching with regard to learning-centered notions. Participants will become familiar with the work of MaryEllen Weimer, and use a rubric developed from her book Learner-Centered Teaching to evaluate sample course vignettes. Faculty participants will also engage in a similar process using the rubric as a self-assessment tool and explore the extent to which their own courses are learning-centered. Emphasis will be placed on determining the appropriateness of learning-centered practices in specific courses, and identifying incremental steps toward learning-centered teaching.
