| Description: | NOTE: VCU will be migrating to Blackboard v9.0 in May of 2010. To assist faculty members with this transition, the CTE will begin offering workshops that focus on using Blackboard 9.0 in March of 2010. Communication has always been an important part of teaching and learning, and the internet opens up new opportunities to connect with students. This class will focus on the enhancement of communication through tools within Blackboard (email, voice email, voice announcements, Wimba voice email, voice boards, etc.), and look at some options outside of Blackboard, such as Jott, Twitter and Skype). Collectively, these tools allow synchronous (real-time) and asynchronous (any-time) communication from one-to-many class participants, or many-to-many (i.e. instructor to students, class or group discussion, etc.). Participants will discuss possible advantages and disadvantages of these tools in meeting particular instructional goals. |
